RESEARCH CALL: TELEHEALTH
We are excited to welcome Dr Sarah White for a special collection that will collate manuscripts on the telehealth in primary care, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
BJGP Open is seeking submissions that document the practice of telehealth in primary care including, but not limited to, how this technology has been used during the pandemic. We welcome primary research and comparative analyses that elucidate differences in international responses linked to primary data on how access, continuity, comprehensiveness, coordination, and person-focused care are changing, and the subsequent impact on health and social outcomes. Documenting the outcomes of the myriad natural experiments playing out around the globe will generate important new evidence on the contribution of different primary care functions to the health of societies.
Topics for submission can include: facilitators and barriers for clinicians and patients in using telehealth; implications of technology types for access to and use of telehealth; impact of COVID-19 on policy and practice for telehealth; telehealth in primary healthcare education; communication in telehealth; and examination using telehealth, among many others.
We welcome qualitative and quantitative research, review articles, research protocols, commentaries, case reports, and international reports that capture approaches to and experiences of telehealth.
Submissions can be made through our online portal until 4th October 2021. Please select Telehealth from the list of special issues drop-down menu at step 6 of the submission process, and state in your cover letter that you are targeting this particular call. Alternatively, you can email your pre-submission queries to BJGP Open where they will be directed to our guest editor, Dr Sarah White, who is overseeing this research call.
Guest Editors are experts in their respective fields who provide guidance and oversight on specific BJGP Open research calls and will advise on scope and content. They will engage with authors, commission papers and offer expert opinion on submissions. However, all final editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief.
