In the Research article by Chou et al. Violence and abuse towards staff by patients and the public in general practice since COVID-19: findings from an online survey, BJGP Open 2026; DOI: https://doi.org/10.3399/BJGPO.2025.0124, several numerical results were incorrectly stated, as follows (correct result stated afterwards):
Under the Results section: “GPs formed the largest group (26.0%), followed by practice managers (18.7%), and care navigators (18.0%).” The percentage for care navigators should be 18.1%.
Under the Results, Direct and indirect experience of violence and abuse subsection: “Furthermore, 96.3% of participants reported witnessing violence and abuse towards their colleagues, with 96.0% having witnessed verbal abuse, 66.5% physical violence or threats, and 27.3% inappropriate sexual behaviours.” The percentage of participants reporting having witnessed verbal abuse should be 95.9%; having witnessed physical violence or threats should be 57.1%; and those having witnessed inappropriate sexual behaviours should be 26.0%.
Under the Results, Staff roles subsection: the P value for the adjusted odds ratio of non-clinicians versus clinicians experiencing inappropriate sexual behaviours should be P = 0.0001, not P<0.001.
Under the Results, Staff roles subsection: “Practice managers had over three times the odds of experiencing physical abuse or threats compared with GPs (aOR 3.36, 95% CI = 2.22 to 5.08)”. Practice managers had over four times the odds of experiencing physical abuse or threats compared with GPs, and the adjusted odds ratio should be stated as 4.21.
In the Discussion, Strengths and limitations subsection: “Care navigators were well represented in the study sample (18.0% of participants)”. Care navigators represented 18.1% of participants.
